Secretary Cardona and other senior officials at the U.S. Department of Education have initiated significant policy changes which impact the rights of girls and women to compete against other girls and women in competitive athletics (Title IX), repayment of student loans (Title IV), support for charter school programs, the prohibition of race-based discrimination in college admission policies (Title VI), and the due process rights of accused students, teachers, faculty, and victims. DFI’s FOIA request is for records indicating the interactions of senior Departmental officials with the advocacy groups and political activities supporting ED’s significant policy changes.
