The U.S. Department of Labor is currently reviewing regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA") concerning minimum wage and overtime pay requirements. Particular teachers' unions have publicly demanded that the Department eliminate the teachers' exemption to overtime pay requirements and provide overtime pay to teachers, despite the current requirements of the FLSA. In its FOIA request, DFI seeks records related to communications by those teachers' unions with particular Department officials since January 20, 2021.
