PRESS RELEASE: DFI Statement on ‘Lowering Education Costs and Debt Act

WASHINGTON—The Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies (DFI) released the following statement from Co-Founder Jim Blew after Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee Republicans unveiled the Lowering Education Costs and Debt Act: 

“The federal student loan system is in desperate need of reform, and we commend Senate Republicans for taking seriously the issues of college affordability and transparency for borrowers. While there is a lot of work to be done to fix the broken postsecondary financial aid system so that it works better for every student, this package of bills is a step in the right direction. Taxpayers and borrowers alike will benefit from policies that help future students make informed financial decisions. Innovative ideas like these, not inflationary and expensive mass loan forgiveness schemes, are key to improving higher education opportunity, affordability, and access in the long run.”
