PRESS RELEASE: DFI Statement on Supreme Court Rulings on Women’s Sports
WASHINGTON — Upon the Supreme Court rulings in West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox, Bob Eitel, President and Co-Founder of the Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies (DFI), released the following statement:
“The Supreme Court has affirmed what DFI has been fighting for: schools may determine eligibility for sports based on biological sex without running afoul of Title IX or the Constitution. For those 23 states that have not enacted laws that protect women’s sports, you are out of legal excuses. It is now imperative that you follow the lead of West Virginia and Idaho and take immediate steps to fulfill Title IX’s promise of ensuring female athletes can compete on a level playing field.”
DFI filed an amicus brief in these cases in defense of women’s sports. To read our brief, click here.
