STATEMENT: DFI Releases Statement on Nomination of Linda McMahon as U.S. Secretary of Education
WASHINGTON—Defense of Freedom Institute (DFI) Co-Founders Bob Eitel and Jim Blew released the following statement on President-elect Trump’s nomination of Linda McMahon to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education:
DFI joins education reformers and parents across the country in celebrating the nomination of Linda McMahon to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education. The incoming secretary’s fresh approach to leadership, as well as her service as a university trustee and state board of education member, make her the perfect choice to restore parental and local control over education.
For the past four years, radical progressives have ruled the Department of Education, resulting in plummeting student achievement, the sidelining of parents, billions of dollars in waste, and the erosion of civil rights in schools. By appointing Linda McMahon, President-elect Trump has rejected the failed policies of the education establishment and the teacher union bosses. DFI offers its congratulations and looks forward to fighting alongside her to expand school choice, reform higher education, and protect the rights of students, teachers, and parents.
