PRESS RELEASE: DFI Statement on Biden’s Veto of Bill Blocking Mass Student Loan Forgiveness

WASHINGTON—The Defense of Freedom Institute for Policy Studies (DFI) released the following statement from Robert S. Eitel, President and Co-Founder, after President Biden vetoed H.J. Res. 45, which would have nullified his student debt forgiveness program and student loan payment pause:

“President Biden’s veto doesn’t change the facts. His mass student loan debt bailout is unfair and expensive because it dumps hundreds of billions of dollars of debt onto the backs of taxpayers, most of whom have never taken on a student loan. Bipartisan majorities in Congress against the scheme underscore that the bailout is unpopular.

We’re hopeful that the Supreme Court will see the president’s plan for what it is: an unconstitutional power grab that cannot be allowed to stand.”
